Diego Carranza (b. 1988, Ibagué, Colombia)
“I grew up in the Andes, visiting my grandmother every Sunday at the tip of the mountain. The fierce colors, textures and flavors, from running in between the coffee vines to splashing in the river, shaped my life”
I am a visual artist, creative co-producer, and costumer for TV and film based in Maplewood, New Jersey.
I’ve been experimenting with photography for about 10 years and finally found a way to share some of my visual exploration with the world.
I collaborated as a co-producer on Magin Diaz's EL Orisha de la Rosa music album. It was an incredible musical experience. An extended mass of performers joined the project, including Chango Spasiuk, Celso Piña, Carlos Vives, Bomba Estereo, and Toto La Momposina. In parallel, a group of visual artists illustrated each song. The Album won a Grammy, a Latin Grammy, and an Independent Music Award.
I am a proud member of the Theatrical Wardrobe Union Local 764 IATSE. My passion for costumes has always been a driving force in my life. The transformative power of clothing can mold a character and transport a viewer to different periods. As a costumer, I have had the privilege of creating fantastical ensembles that breathe life into TV and film productions. But beyond the realm of costumes, another passion has taken hold of my heart. Photography has become the perfect balance in my life, allowing me to express my creativity and preserve memories in ways that touch the souls of those who encounter my work.
